This is my GreatGrandpa's Passport.It might not be readable
from this image. I did the best I could with the image.
He came here first in 1911 that is the initial date of this
passport. The ruler at the time was Franz Joseph (or as he
would be called in the Burg "Frankie Joey". He had ruled since
1848. I remember someone in the family saying he came here
because he thought the Euros were gonna have a big crazy senseless
war. He was correct. Many folks from the Burg have connections
to the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It had many nationalities within
it. My Grandpa was Slovak. The town he was from Zdair is beautiful
but you can't eat the scenery:) Most Immigrant stories are the same
story. From Italy or Ireland & Scotland (like some of my folks) or
Poland or Austro-Hungary or anywhere to The American Dream:)
