This was my father-in-laws bar at the corner of Beatty and Lalor. Bill Pety and Archie Bleyer were partners. Thanks Mack.
Thanks for suggesting it Barb:)
It was a place I passed by often
when going to the 7-11 right there
or the little shopping center nearby:) It was one of the pics I
knew the second I saw it:)
Often when returning from doing a
house in Burlington County I would
turn from 29 to lalor.
I would often get a coffee at that
7-11 to bring to the office:)
I believe it was also recently a Jazz Club for about 6 months.
Tom Pass...you're a man of few words, but always on the money. It was a Jazz Club, but didn't last too long. It's sad to see it vacant and boarded, my in-laws opened this up in 1945 and it was a boomin' place for years, 'til the neighborhood and the neighbors left.
Thanks Barb. I did stop in there a few times after the owner of Jazz Club took ownership. It was very clean and in good shape and it seemed that he was positioned to do a nice business. Unfortunately it did not work out.
Rock'n'Roll with Kurt & the Hot Spots a few times in the '60's..I think on Sunday afternoons??
Me, Kurt Balog, Mike Cannon, Bobby Cairo and a bass player, don't remember his name. Fun times..our home bar was The Cove..anyone remember that? I have a pic and write-up done in Duffy's column of the group.
Sax..the Cove really rings a bell...where was it? I asked my husband, "where was The Cove" and he said "it's a place on the River we used to fish". St Fidel, Help me!!
The Cove was the Fri/Sat night place in Trenton...early to mid 60's. On E Hanover between N Montgomery and N Broad. Go to Clede's on the corner of N Montgomery and E Hanover, turn left and about 3 doors down on the left..set in..was the Cove Bar. Entered and went downstairs.
Wow Sax...Clede's, that brings back a whole bunch of memories. Cherry coke at Clede's...Chocolate Coke at Kresgies...Hot Dog and Root Beer at Sears...Pina Colada Soda and a Pork Roll at Taylors on State and Broad...and a nice spicy Bloody Mary at the Famous after work (DMV). I guess Berg people remember everything by the food we ate or the music we liked.
And in my case....by the girls/women I knew/know!!
"what is life without wine, women and song"?
Sax...Wine, Women (or Men in my case), Song and Tomato Pie.
