2 Jersey Street, The Burg.
Once upon a time Leslie's Grocery Store:)
A Blog about the Chambersburg area of Trenton NJ. The Burg we all loved and miss. If you were from the Burg I hope many of the pictures and lists and comments under them from good folks bring back some nice memories. Villa Park, Franklin Park, South Trenton, and nearby Hamilton also mentioned. Use the search box atop the blog to find schools, churches, streets, stores, bars etc that you remember. Over 4000 posts and 3000 pics. Enjoy:)

Thanks for the picture Mack, head up Home Ave. and right around that turn was granny's 143 Home Ave.
I can still hear my mom or dad saying, "Go pick-up a...(whatever)..from Leslie and ask him to put it on the tab". And he did with no hesitation and always asked how I was doin'...he was a friend!
A thing I remember about some of these corner stores: They had bells
attached to the door so when you opened it they could hear you come in.
Absolutely Mack..they did have the bells..and like Zuzu told her father in It's a Wonderful Life..."everytime a bell rings an angel gets its wings". I'm hoping Leslie has his.
Sax: Your right about Leslie, you could not have said it better.
I hope Mrs Molnar from Liberty
Deli across the street from us
has her wings as well:)
Its a Wonderful Life was a great
movie and remains topical today:)
There you go, Mack. Great point.
Our way of Life in the 'Burg was the RIGHT way of Life. We could walk into a neighborhood store and the owner would not rush in from the back to see who was there...he/she knew we were there to buy not to rob them..or threaten their life. The change in the 'Burg/Trenton is not sad, like some of you have stated, it is pitiful, disgusting.
