This reminds me of trips to Point Pleasant in my Uncle Frank's 1939 Plymouth. It was the coupe with the rumble seat where the trunk opened back (not up as in the one pictured), and there was a compartment you could fit Cousins: Jack, Kevin and Ellen and Yers' Truly back there. It was cramped and we were huddled under a blanket to keep out the Jersey Shore Skeeters, the sand blowing or the rain. Ah, those were the days. How many readers have ever had the pleasure of a ride in the rumble seat? Don't laugh agout the Shore-Skeeter, I had two knock me down and I only escaped by slinking off while they argued if they should eat me here or take me back to the swamp and share? And that, is the truth!

HI MAC....1948 WAS A VERY GOOD YEAR. THE SCHROTHS WON THE AMERICAN LEGION WORLD SERIES IN INDIANAPOLIS AND I BOUGHT A NEW HOUSE. BUT THE BEST EVENT WAS WATCHING MY BROTHER STEAL HOM E FOR THE SCHROTHS IN THAT FINAL SERIES GAME. BUS SAIDT WAS ANNOUNCING THE GAME AND MENTIONED THAT HE AND I PLAYED FOR THE SCHROTHS IN 1936. THAT CAR ON CLINTON ST. LOOKS LIKE MY FRIEND'S CAR WITH THE RUMBLE SEAT, REMEMBER THEM. UP THE STREET IS WHERE MY BROTHER LOU HAD HIS RADIO SHOP IN THE 30'S. BEST REGARDS.

This car is parked about in front of the Ace Cany Co store on South Clinton Av. near Russling St. when Russling st. was a two way street. My Baby sitter Helen Quackenboss lived at the candy store which was owned by her father. What a wonderful family they were and I could always get a free candy if I hung around long enough.
