Once Upon A Time, Liberty Thriftway

Once Upon A Time, Liberty Thriftway, Villa Park/Hamilton Area. After The Roebling Acme, This was the place Mom shopped most often back in the day. "I am just gonna get a few things" was Mom-Speak for 4 or 5 bags of things LOL :)

Mack: Been down that road more than once. Going to get some milk at Thriftway only to come back with lunch meat, bread, chips and other assorted goodies. Was a great store.

Hi Joe :)

Yes you were close enough to walk the bags back to the house I imagine :))

Owned by that wonderful gentleman Sam Risoldi, may he rest in peace. The prices were a little higher than the Ac-a-me on Roebling and the A&P on Beatty and Adeline was sadly no more, but it was all about the ambiance, the only supermarket with carpeted isles.

We used to walk here after the Acme left in 1978. It was only a few blocks farther but seemed much longer from the 2 blocks away of The Acme. I guess when you are pushing a cart and carrying groceries that made the difference. I still miss the old neighborhood and think about it often.
