George Wah

George Wah

He was one of my Gym teachers in my Junior Four days.
He was also a nice man and local sports legend. He
just passed away this year. It was important not to
screw up too bad in gym class lest you get called
"sweetheart" mockingly by Mr Wah :)

Worked with George many years at THS. A great guy to say the least!

He was my Gym teacher also at Junior High #4, along with Mr. Smith and Mr. Partyka.

All three were great teachers.

Frank Partyka retired and moved to NC. I think I recall Smith moving to Brazil after retiring.

Thanks for the info on Mr. Smith and Mr. Partyka, again sorry to hear about Mr. Wah's passing.

While were on the subject of gym teachers at Junior Four. I don't think this has ever been mentioned before on this website or maybe I just missed it.

Richard "Digger" Phelps - Coach at Notre Dame University, Rider College and with ESPN.

I remember my brother telling me he had Mr. Phelps as a gym coach at Junior High #4, back in the early 60's. Mr. Phelps may have been a coach their also. This would be prior to him coaching at Rider College.

Not sure about that. There was a Mr. Frank Donlin who was a gym teacher at Jr. 4. I did not start working in Trenton until 1965.

Apparently my brother was right, the former Notre Dame coach was a teacher at Junior Four between 1964-1965.

Found this on Google News about Richard "Digger" Phelps.

He played basketball four years at Rider College and was on the 1962 championship team that finished 21-8.

Upon leaving Rider, he went into high school coaching and teaching.
He taught at Junior High School Number Four in Trenton 1964-1965 and then coached basketball at St. Gabriel's High School in Hazelton, Pa. the following year.
