The Feast of Lights 1985
The Feast in the years after its return in 1976 often
attracted about 150,000 to 200,000 people over the
course of its days each september. One year the
President of the United States came. God bless the
old Burg:)
A Blog about the Chambersburg area of Trenton NJ. The Burg we all loved and miss. If you were from the Burg I hope many of the pictures and lists and comments under them from good folks bring back some nice memories. Villa Park, Franklin Park, South Trenton, and nearby Hamilton also mentioned. Use the search box atop the blog to find schools, churches, streets, stores, bars etc that you remember. Over 4000 posts and 3000 pics. Enjoy:)

That was the last year that I went Mack. How long did it last afterwards?

HI MAC...THE FEAST OF LIGHTS IN THE EARLY YEARS WAS MUCH MORE PROMINENT. THE PROCESSIONS WERE GREATER THE FIREWORKS ON BUTLER STREET WERE OUTSTANDING AND THE FOOD IN MY OPINION WAS TRUE ITALIAN AND AFFORDABLE. I CAN RECALL IN THE 20'S AND 30'S HOW MUCH MORE ATTENTION WAS PLACED ON THE TRUE MEANING OF THE CELEBRATION. GOD BLESS THE OLD BURG AND ALL THE RESIDENTS.
Hi Skip & Ralph:)
The Feast lasted until 2003. But it sorta got smaller as the years went by so you knew that was gonna happen.
The Feast became more secular and less religious for many as the days rolled on agree, but it still did have God at its core at least.
After all The Madonna was always there:)
