My Holy Cross School Class Picture

My Holy Cross School Class Picture
This is first grade. The 1968-1969 School year.
See the kid in the second row directly above the kid holding
the Class sign? My smiling face is to left of him in the
picture.

Ouch! I hated those little goofy snap on ties.

I never knew it would feel so good to go back to a regular blue tie, ours had the "SHS" in a shield with a cross and lamp. Saint Hedwig School. I think it was the class ahead of us that had to study by oil lamps. The hole for the ink wells were still in the desks.

On the school shopping list would have been a few bottles of ink with an "Esterbrook" fountain pen with a little lever that pinched a rubber "bladder" and sucked the ink up.

A little bottle of "ink eradicator" with an eye dropper that was supposed to make the ink disappear if you made a mistake, this was before ball point pens and white out. The stuff never worked but it sure made you take your time.

With that grin, you were up to something or she was one of the nice nuns. Well Mack, which was it?

Over at "Hedwigs" the nuns were so tough that we actually had two kids who drove to school in the eighth grade.

There was no "Gentlemen's C" and on to Trenton High, these guys were 17 and still in "the eighth".

Skip ...

Not a rumor, they were in my class.

Love those ties, better yet were the ones that looked like regular ties but had that elastic on them.

Skip - 17 and still in the 8th grade, they weren't the D Brothers.
