Count Felix's Bar 1968, Anderson Street, The Burg

Count Felix's Bar 1968, Anderson Street, The Burg
Found on a FB Group I could not relocate it to thank
whoever posted it there. If you did, let me know
and I will credit it to you. This Bar was actually
around the corner from our house in the Burg on
Liberty Street. I think it was long gone by the
time I was near drinking age. But I have heard
lots about it from everyone:)

The "Count" was a very fine trained musician in spite of his clowning around on organ behind the bar. Spent several early Sunday afternoons studying with him.

I could go on forever about "The Count" and post Navy let my hair grow. Another vet and I sometimes sat in the corner wearing "togas" (sheets), and when customers would ask he would tell them it was "Jesus and one of The Apostles".

We had a thousand laughs that started with phone call .. "Eddie, for you" .. well who would know me the first time there? I got a shower of water in the face.

Or the rigged "dummy" where you looked in one eye to see "pics of bare nekkid wimmen" .. except it had a pneumatic arm that would grab your crotch as you strained for a look because the only thing in there (the head), was a low watt light bulb.

He was also a Juliard graduate and classical master on the keyboard which he sometimes wore a WWII gas mask with a hole for his cigar while playing.

A sign over the door said "IF YOU CAN'T TAKE IT, DON'T COME IN".

Count, you are keeping them rolling in Heaven

With love and thanks for the laughs, you were the best and Ernie Kovacs learned from the true master.
