Ralph Lucarella Remembers The RKO Broad Theatre
Ralph Lucarella Remembers The RKO Broad Theatre
The CYO on South Broad Street was the RKO Broad Theatre
once upon a time.

HI MAC....THAT BUILDING WILL ALWAYS BE CALLED THE RKO
BROAD THEATRE TO ALL US BURG OLD TIMERS. FOR 10 CENTS
YOU WOULD SIT UP STAIRS AND ENJOY ABOUT THREE HOURS
OF MOVIES. I REALLY DID'NT GET TO SIT DOWN STAIRS FOR
QUITE SOME TIME. IT FELT LIKE WE HAD IT MADE WHEN
THAT HAPPENED. THERE WERE TIMES WHEN WE KIDS WOULD
SNEAK IN BETWEEN SHOWS WHEN THEY OPENED THE DOORS ON
BROAD ST. MANY TIMES THE USHERS WOULD LOOK THE OTHER
WAY. IT WAS ONE OF THE FIRST THEATRES TO OFFER AIR
CONDITIONING. THEY HAD LARGE FANS ATTACHED TO THE
SIDE WALLS BLOWING COOL AIR. AT TIMES IT WAS HARD
TO HEAR THE MOVIES DUE TO THE NOISE OF THE FANS.
BUT IT WAS OUR FAVORITE THEATRE IN CHAMBERSBURG
. BEST REGARDS.
Thanks for sharing these great memories Ralph:)
