A Blog about the Chambersburg area of Trenton NJ. The Burg we all loved and miss. If you were from the Burg I hope many of the pictures and lists and comments under them from good folks bring back some nice memories. Villa Park, Franklin Park, South Trenton, and nearby Hamilton also mentioned. Use the search box atop the blog to find schools, churches, streets, stores, bars etc that you remember. Over 4000 posts and 3000 pics. Enjoy:)

HI MAC....THE CIGAR FACTORY, AS WE ALL CALLED THAT PLACE, PROVIDED JOBS ALONG WITH THE DOLL FACTORY TO MOST WORKING GIRLS IN CHAMBERSBURG FOR MANY YEARS. PEOPLE IN MY FAMILY, MY WIFE'S FAMILY AND A GREAT DEAL IN VILLA PARK AND THE BURG DEPENDED ON THOSE FACILITES TO MAKE A LIVING. I'LL ALWAYS RECALL MY MOTHER;S SMOCK THAT SMELLED LIKE TOBACCO FOREVER. BEST REGARDS.
I MIGHT ADD MOST PEOPLE WORKED PIECE WORK, WHICH POSED A PROBLEM IF YOU'RE HOOKED UP WORKING WITH SLOW POOKS. MY MOTHER WAS A BUNCH MAKER, WHILE OTHERS DID OTHER JOBS IN PRODUCING THE CIGARS. I GOT A BIG KICK OUT OF LISTENING TO STORIES SHE TOLD ABOUT THE DIFFERENT GIRLS THAT WORKED THERE. MR. GOLD DID THE HIRING AND MR. BROWN, WHOSE REAL NAME WAS MALINGRINO, WAS ONE OF THE BOSSES. THE MALINGRINOS OWNED A DELI ON KENT ST, I WENT TO SCHOOL WITH JIMMY. HIS BROTHERF PATTY BROWN \, WAS AN OUTSTANDING SHORTSTOP AT THE TIME I WAS PLAYING BALL. REGARDS.
Hi Ralph :)
Thanks for sharing memories of this place. I passed by it quite often in my Burg day and am glad to hear what it once was and what went on in there:))
