601 Chestnut Avenue, The Burg

601 Chestnut Avenue, The Burg
The corner of Chestnut Avenue and Roebling Avenue.
This is a new picture I took of it.
Once upon a time this was Marie DiGuiseppe Womens Clothes
long ago. In my Burg day I think it was a Dancing Lessons
place as it is now. I always thought this building looked
cool:)

HI MAC...I'D LIKE TO COMMENT ON ALL THE NEIGHBORHOOD STORES WE HAD IN THE BURG IN THE OLD DAYS. LIKE THE ONE ABOVE, ASHBRAND'S HARDWARE, THE LOCAL DRUG STORES, THE A & P, AMERICAN STORES, TOMATO PIE STORES AND WHATEVER ELSE WE NEEDED. NO ONE HAD A LOT OF MONEY AND THINGS WERE VERY REASONABLE. MY NEPHEW JUST GOT BACK FROM A VISIT NORTH AND MENTIONED HOW MUCH THINGS HAVE CHANGED. HE TREATED ALL HIS REALATIVES TO TOMATO PIES AT THE NEW DeLORENZO'S IN ROBBINSVILLE, ABOUT 17 PEOPLE, AND THE BILL CAME TO $302.00. NOW THIS IS JUST FOR PIZZAS. IF I GOT THE STORY STRAIGHT, THIS PROVES HOW MUCH BETTER WE HAD IT WHEN I WAS EARNING 65 CENTS AN HOUR AT THE POST OFFICE IN THE 40'S AND 50'S. WHEN PIZZAS WERE 50 CENTS EACH. LET'S HEAR IT FOR THE GOOD OLD DAYS. BEST REGARDS.

Hi Ralph:)
You said it all with that post.
Prices for things were reasonable back in my Burg day too...and corner stores often allowed folks to "write stuff down" and pay them later. God Bless the Old Burg:)
