Hi Mack: Venanzi's is another one of the outstanding
Italian groceries in Chambersburg. It seems they have
been on that corner for ages. Most people don't realize
how Italian products were sold in those days. Like pasta
was sold loose, not in packages, mozzerella was sold in
barrels of water, provolone cheese in chunks and most of
the food imported from Italy. It's much different
today.

Thank You Ralph:)

My father was born across the street at 710 Roebling. The Venanzi side of the family had the house at 196 Division - the backyards had access to each other through the fence. His grandmother was Rosa Venanzi, daughter of Felix. I presume that this is the same family as the grocery store, but I've not been able to find the connection.

My brother John rented this unit as a 2 room studio apartment in the late 70's and early 80's..it was dubbed the O'Bud Cafe.
