HEY MACK: MAYBE A COUPLE OF LOCAL OLD TIMERS CAN HELP ME WITH SANDERS. I SEEM TO REMEMBER THEY HAD A BEAUTIFUL "SANDERS" SIGN IN RED LETTERS AGAINST A WHITE BACKGROUND WITH BLUE BORDERS AS I SAW THAT EATERY ON MY WAY "UP TOWN" ON THE "L-9 LIBERTY STREET BUS. IT WAS REALLY "IN YOUR FACE" BEAUTIFUL ON A DARK NIGHT AS WE PASSED BY. HELP! THAT SIGN IS LIKE ONE OF THOSE SONGS THAT YOU CAN'T GET OUT OF YOUR HEAD.

Tom, do you have any idea where I can find the old Trenton Transit bus routes. I remember a few like the S, B, T and H and then run out of steam?

Hi Toms:)
Thank You so much for the nice words about my blog:)
The pictures are there especially for former area folks now living far away:)

I am believer in a hit and miss way there are MANY more pictures out there than we think of old stores and restaurants..and they are in family photos of the former owners family members..someone somewhere might have a picture of that old sign:)

Hi Skip % Joe:)

The K bus went to Independence Mall.
The T Bus went to Quakerbridge.

If I remember correctly:)

I lived right around the corner on Genesee St. and yes there was the big sign on the building. Mr Sanders and Sydney were OK but Mrs Sanders could be a pistol at times. When I was in high school, all the high schoolers would go to St Stephen's Church to the 9 am mass, then after church we would walk to Sanders for "breakfast" oh the good old days.. I still go to brunch after church every week but now it starts off with a bloody mary... LOL

Sanders Corner (Beatty & Broad) was my hang-out corner during my early teens....yes Tom..that sign was as you describe it...and on a Summer night it added to the "magic' of the corner - with the Hub Bar and Weinberg's signs on opposite corners! The Sanders family where great to us...me, Teddy Wood, Walt Szul, Adam "Maz" Mazur....great memories..all of us would meet on Sunday morning for coffee when we where suppose to be at Holy Cross church..! There was another luncheonette a few doors towards the Broad Theater...Chris' Luncheonette..
