Beatles In The Burg ?

Beatles In The Burg ?
This is the cover of the Beatles album Abbey Road.
It looks like the Beatles are crossing South Broad
Street near the CYO. Look.

PAUL: Did Ye pay your fine at Skelton, John?
JOHN: No, I am saving me pence for pinball.
GEORGE: Why did we avoid walking past Holy Cross?
JOHN: Since I said we're bigger than God, ole
Father Ted is looking for me.
RINGO: Splendid, Lets hit Papas on the other side
of the Burg.

Boy did that intersection get me in trouble. Just out of the picture is a large yellow flashing light.

As we know today that is a Ped-Xing but back in 1980 I sure had never seen one. I almost mowed a bunch of folks down and there were a lot of hand gestures. I fully intended on reading the Brit driving rules on the flight over but that was not to happen.

Note: You don't see one every half block like you do in some small towns here. Generally, those things are a nuisance. At least having three per block like we do in my town anyway! Argggg!

Mack, you mention Father Ted. I had not seen him since since he left Saint Hedwigs in the 1950's.

I had to make a stop at Holy Cross in about 2000, and he recognized me and lit up without me ever saying a word. What an amazing memory and what a nice fellow he was.
