A Beautiful Sunny Day on Liberty Street, The Burg.
Our home in the Burg was on the second block of
this picture on the other side of the street thus
not in this picture. The old Jewish Cemetery in
the picture. I never saw anyone in it in all my
years in the Burg. Home Seal owned by Pat Pratico
was the first building on our block of Liberty
right after Hewitt Street. The Landmark Bar was
on the other corner of Liberty and Hewitt.
Liberty Deli and Dinger Brothers Iron Works were
across the street, seperated by McCabe Alley.
I remember when they paved McCabe alley as before
that it was just gravel. It was often our path
to Franklin Park 3 blocks away. On the other
side of our block at Liberty and Rusling Streets
was once an Ice House. When I see a picture like
this I automatically think I am home soon as
if approaching in a car or on foot:)

HI MAC...YOU CAN IMAGINE HOW MANY TIMES I WALKED THAT AREA OF LIBERTY STREET TO SEE MY GIRL FRIEND AT 13 HOWELL ST. THAT'S WHERE WE GOT MARRIED ON JUNE 30, 1940 AND LIVED THERE 0N AND OFF FOR A FEW YEARS. SO YOU SEE, WE WERE NEIGHBORS THEN AND MANY YEARS LATTER WE ALSO LIVED IN THE SAME NEIGHBORHOOD IN MERCERVILLE. IT'S A SMALL WORLD MAC AND WE BOTH SPENT MUCH TIME IN FRANKLIN PARK. I CAN STLL RECALL ALL MY TIME IN CHAMBERSBURG AND OTHER SECTIONS OF THE CITY. BEST REGARDS.
