Roebling Fire 1915
The Roebling Plant had a big fire in 1915. I do not know
how much of the plant was destroyed or how many were killed
or injured. I am grateful that they rebuilt so the could
help create the world I knew and grew up in and loved:)
A Blog about the Chambersburg area of Trenton NJ. The Burg we all loved and miss. If you were from the Burg I hope many of the pictures and lists and comments under them from good folks bring back some nice memories. Villa Park, Franklin Park, South Trenton, and nearby Hamilton also mentioned. Use the search box atop the blog to find schools, churches, streets, stores, bars etc that you remember. Over 4000 posts and 3000 pics. Enjoy:)

My buddy found my Grandfather's papers from Robeling at just about that time. He was leaving his job to go with PSE&G and the bought a house at about Warren & Front to be near the job, or perhaps it was company housing? His reason for leaving Robeling was simply stated as "betterment".
Thanks to my Irish Grandfather; he made a simple and respectable life here and never complained. Would they hire him back? The papers said "without hesitation".

Hi Skip:)
I like that word "betterment".
And I think corps had a better
sense of community and loyalty back in those days:)
