The Villa Park Deli, 951 Revere Avenue, Villa Park.

The Villa Park Deli, 951 Revere Avenue, Villa Park.
Once upon a time this was Gervasio Fausti's Deli
in the 1950s. Then it was The Villa Park Deli owner
John Berkenkopt:) in my Burg area days:)

A little over a block away from our house, this is
where we would go for newspapers, bread, milk, lunch
meat, comc books, soda, candy and items needed in an
emergency. Would catch the bus to downtown Trenton
on the Roebling Avenue side which was a terminal
point for the route.

I lived on South Cook Avenue and would ride my bike
here almost every Saturday. I would hand the lunch
meat list from my mom to John and read comic books
until he was finished. Great memories.

HI MAC....NOW YOU'RE REALLY SHOWING A CORNER OF
VILLA PARK THAT BRINGS BACK MANY FOND MEMORIES.
AND I MEAN GOING BACK TO THE EARLY 1930'S. IT WAS
THE MEETING PLACE OF ALL THE GUYS IN THE
NEIGHBORHOOD, BOTH YOUNG KIDS AND OLDER. IT WAS
THE TERMINAL OF A TRENTON TRANSIT BUS AND A DELI
THAT SOLD EVERYTHING. I BELIEVE JACK DAVIDSON WAS
THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND HE GOT ALONG WITH ALL OF US.
HE SPONSORED OUR PLAYGROUNG LEAGUE BASEBALL TEAM
AND HELPED US IN MANY OTHER PROJECTS. THERE WAS AN
EMPTY LOT IN THE BACK OF HIS STORE AT THE TIME
WHERE WE HAD A BASKETBALL STAND AND ALSO PLAYED
TOUCH FOOTBALL. MANY OF THE GIRLS IN VILLA PARK
WOULD ALSO USE REVERE AVE. TO ROLLER SKATE ON AND
FLIRT WITH THE BOYS. IN THOSE DAYS WE WERE MORE
INTERESTED IN SPORTS THAN MESSING AROUND WITH THE
GIRLS. THE DELI HAS CHANGED HANDS MANY TIMES SINCE
THEN AND THE LAST OWNERS I KNEW WERE THE FAUSTI,S
FROM FRANKLIN ST. REGARDS

Hi Ralph:)
God bless the old Villa Park Deli its gone now. I guess kids have to
walk to the 7-11 or Pantry One to get a soda now. Corner Delis sure were a kid friendly item. I love your memories and reflections of the place and will add them to the post:)

My grandfather was Gervasio Fausti..My mother Josephine lived upstairs while growing up...later my Aunt Lucy lived at the house next door to the deli at 949 Revere...I have many memories of taking a dime in the early 60's and getting a bag full of candy...My grandfather made the best cappicola..."cuppagool"!
