WaWa Hoagies.
I grew with the Mom and Pop corner stores and loved the
Hoagies especially at Liberty Deli, Italian Peoples Bakery,
Felix's (near the Mill Hill Saloon), That Deli at South
Clinton Avenue and Hudson Street (name escapes me).
Perhaps chain stores like WaWa got rid of many of the local
Mom & Pop places. But Despite that, the truth must be said..
WaWa makes very good Hoagies...good coffee too.

Mack, have to agree, WaWa made a great hoagie on Liberty
Street and Revere Avenue. I spent plenty of pennies on my
sons wanting a hoagie.

Mack, on some issues I am a hard head. There are arguments for and against the big box but since the off shore tidal wave, I haven't been in a Wal-Anything except when I needed a trunk for a son at school and we had no other option in that town. They had driven each merchant under. Small towns in stores in Maine dropped like flies. You don't save a red cent. Used to go down to Hoffman Hardware and buy a 4 penny hose washer but now you have to buy a pack of 10 at Home Despot for $6.99. Our last small hardware in Flemington went under last year. Now, I have medical issues and they take the joy of being able to shop. I used to be able to make it into the old hardware but now walking a half mile for a plunger?
Ho, ho, you are making me feel like the Grinch today. Never touch that Wa Wa food either since I tried a meat ball.
The chains on a good note, when you are on the road, you know what you're getting. Believe it or not the ketchup (a Persian word via China), in London is sweeter than here. Germany is a bit different too. All McDonalds are not exactly the same.
Good coffee at WaWa is a plus.

WaWa makes a good Hoagie, they just do, and any taste test with no politics involved would back that up, in my opinion:)
Yes Mack, and I'm sorry I said that. I just miss the old stores where they knew us even as kids.
Folks like old Mister Hoffman would load a few of us kids into his car with my dad and would take us out to his cottage in Hopewell up on the mountain. We would have the run of the forest for the day while the men had a few beers.
Did you know that many of the "colonies", and you can still see vestiges of then today, were summer homes. Usually tiny cottages to get Mom and the kids out of the hot city. There are a few left along the canal north of Morrisville and up on the Sourland Mountain by Hopewell (Hillbilly Hall). A few weeks ago I checked the temp in Trenton and it was 94 but up on the hill in the forest it was a cool 86.

I could get political and nasty, sometimes things just make you boil or as I have on my site "Gets My Gander." WaWa hoagies were good, down here in Florida it's Publix makes a good Italian hoagie. Down with Subway,Firehouse and all those others. Mom and Pop stores made the best. Have a good day guys.
