1122 South Clinton Avenue, The Burg

1122 South Clinton Avenue, The Burg
Once upon a time, Palmer-Trout Office Supplies. A
wonderful triangular shaped building we took little
notice of as kids but the kind of building artsy
small towns would kill to have:)

Hey Mack:
As I recall, we old timers remember that building
as Urken and Kohn, a prominent and popular
department store back in the distant past.

I knew Dave Trout and in the early 1970, right after I got out of the Navy, we belonged to the Delaware Valley Sports Car Club. Dave had a great Mercedes 230 SL. Of note, he bought the car from Harrison Harbourt of the Scott Taylor Pharmacy. Taylor (Harbourt's), was on Spruce and Princeton but the original location on State by Broad and their phone number was #1. First phone in Trenton. We had a few Burg folks in the club, Linda Dimassi and Don Lipira.

Hey Mack:

As I recall, we old timers remember that building as Urken and Kohn, a prominent and popular department store back in the distant past. Going back even further, I wondered if earlier it wasn't also the home of Max ("Maxies's") Introlligator's store. Someone older than I will have to comment on that. Ralph Lucarella, where are you? You're needed here!

HI MAC AND TOM....WELL, HERE I AM TOM. I WAS VERY FAMILAR WITH THAT SECTION OF TOWN. MY BROTHER LOU HAD A RADIO SHOP RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET IN THE 1930'S. MY FUTURE WIFE LIVED RIGHT DOWN THE STREET, CLOSE TO PRIOR'S BAKERY AND URKEN AND KOHN WAS ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR STORES AROUND THE BURG. MAX INTROLLIGATORS WAS A SEPERATE STORE A FEW BLOCKS AWAY AND WAS MUCH SMALLER THAN URKEN AND KUHN. ALSO IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD WAS BROWN'S NOVELTY, WHO INSTALLED THE INTERCOM SYSTEM WHEN WE BUILT THE HAMILTON BOWLING LANES ON ROUTE 33 IN 1955. BROWNIE WAS A BIG HELP TO US AND WE USED HIS PIN BALL AND CIGARETTE VENDING MACHINES. SO YOU SEE, THAT AREA PLAYED A BIG PART OF MY ACTIVITY IN THOSE EARLY YEARS. BEST REGARDS.

Hi Skip Tom & Ralph:)
Max Introlligators was on my block
(it was gone before we move there).
at the corner of Anderson Street and Hewitt Street.
I had a Mr Trout for shop class at
Junior Four and wonder if he was related to these folks.
I will add the first part of you comment to the post Tom.
Thank You Folks:)
