A Sunny Afternoon on Chambers Street, The Burg

A Sunny Afternoon on Chambers Street, The Burg
Chambers Street had some fine looking Homes on
it as well as commercial establishments.
Bartolini's , Zips, Nappys, Cumberland Farms,
Papas. There were once 2 gas stations at
Liberty Street and Chambers Street, an Arco
where the Dunkin Donuts is now and a Hess
across the street. There was a phone booth
on Chambers Street near Trenton High and St
Francis Hospital that is now gone....

HI MAC.....CHAMBERS HAS ALWAYS BEEN A VERY BUSY STREET THAT SEPERATES THE BURG FROM VILLA PARK. I SPENT MOST OF MY EARLY YEARS IN THAT AREA AND RECALL ALL THE PLACES OF BUSINESS YOU MENTION. MY BROTHER CHUCK HAD HIS DOCTOR'S OFFICE ON CHAMBERS IN THE 80'S AND WAS JUST ACROSS THE STREET FROM ST. FRANCIS HOSPITAL. I HAVE MANY FOND MEMORIES OF THOSE DAYS. REGARDS.

Hi Ralph:)
I also have many fond memories
on Chambers Street.
Walking down to Wetzel with my
crew to play ball...
Zips Steakhouse...a California
Cheeseburger, Fries and a soda
please....
Ridin my bike to Independence
Mall especially in the summers
of 1975 and 1976...
Nappys Pizza for lunch at times
in my Trenton High days....
Coming to and from friends houses
in Villa Park...

How Lucky we were to all be part
of it:)

Chambers St.
My aunt Marge and my cousin Susie (her husband and Susie's father was killed in WWII) lived 1 block down from St. Francis hospital. Across the street lived Billy ???, whose father was an accordian teacher. Anyway, sitting on the my aunt's porch one day at age 13, scanning the area, I see a detective from the TPD chasing a guy down Chambers, both firing guns at each other.
