the day I got inside pictures of this magnificent school:)

.....THIS ALSO BRINGS BACK A LOT OF FINE MEMORIES. PLAYING ON THE JR. 4 TEAM WAS THE FIRST OF MY MANY EFFORTS IN TRYOUTS. MR. RAY WOOD WAS OUR COACH AND WE DID HAVE A GOOD TEAM. BEST REGARDS.

the 1970s..do you remember if
they were there in your Jr4 day?
YEAH MAC.....THOSE BLEACHERS WERE THERE IN MY DAY AND EVERYTHING ELSE LOOKS THE SAME. AFTER 40 YEARS YOU WOULD THINK SOME THINGS WOULD LOOK DIFFERENT.
I was a little puzzled as to why Ralph when living on Bert Avenue attended Jr. 4 on Dayton instead of Jr. 2 on Cuyler. I could be wrong but I thought that most kids from Villa Park who attended public school went to Jr. 2. As I often do, I checked out the Trenton Historical Society site at: http://trentonhistory.org/His/Schools.html. Based on that information and what I found out about Carroll Robbins School I've put together a brief outline of jr/sr high school system in Trenton in the early 20th century. In 1914 the Trenton School Board adopted a new school model. Until then, Trenton had followed the K-8, 9-12 school system. Beginning in 1916, Trenton used the K-6, 7-9, 10-12 school system. Of course the serious overcrowding at the new Trenton High School at Chestnut & Hamilton which opened in 1901 may have pushed the school board to adopt a new system. In 1916, Jr. 1 opened on Princeton Avenue and the Carroll Robbins Training School on Tyler which had opened in 1908 and also served as an annex for the high school for several years, was designated Jr. 2. Jr. 3 on Parkside opened in 1924 and Jr. 4 opened in 1926. In 1945 Lincoln School on Montgomery which had been built in 1923, was renamed Jr. 5. The new high school on Chambers opened January 4, 1932. In 1928 the school on Tyler reverted back to being called the Carroll Robbins School and it seems that there was no Jr. 2 between 1928-1940. In the fall of 1940 a new Jr. 2 opened on Cuyler . From the start this facility was grades K-9 as some of the older schools in Chambersurg/Villa Park/Wilbur sections of Trenton were closed in conjunction with the opening of the new Jr. 2. Students from Moses School on Park, Hamilton School at Anderson and Hewitt School on Roebling were among those who transferred to the elemntary division at Jr. 2 in the fall of 1940. By then Ralph was no longer in school.
STEPHAN.....JUNIOR 2 WAS BUILT IN THE LATE 1930S. MY FATHER WORKED ON THE CONSTRUCTION FOR JUST A FOOD ORDER. I WENT TO JR.4 IN 1932, 33 AND 34. MY BROTHER CHUCK WENT TO JR.2 I RECALL AND PLAYED ON THE BASEBALL TEAM, I BELIEVE THAT WAS IN THE EARLY 40S WHEN WE WERE LIVING ON FRANKLIN ST. I KNOW THAT WAS A LONG TIME AGO BUT I THINK IT'S CORRECT.
