Mack: I still remember walking with my grandfather to the Feast of Lights. He took me every year, he loved that stuff the lights, sounds and food.

HI MAC....HOW COULD WE PRETEND IT'S THE BURG OF OLD WITH A MEXICAN RESTAURANT AT THE CORNER OF BUTLER AND HUDSON. THAT LOOKS LIKE BUTLER AND HUDSON. THE BURG WAS ALWAYS KNOWN AS LITTLE ITALY AND I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT ALL HAS CHANGED. IN A SHORT WHILE THEY SHOULD BE HAVING THE FEAST OF LIGHTS AND THINGS WILL BE REMEMBERED BY ALL THE OLD TIMERS. REGARDS TO EVERYONE INCLUDING THE MEMBERS OF THE JERSEY SOCIAL CLUB WHO ARE STILL WITH US.

I would trade my first born for one of those deep fried tomato pies.

The only place you could ever get them was Saint James Carnival and The Feast of Lights. Sadly they stopped even serving them 25 years ago.

Oh, to go back in time?

Skip.

Won't be long before a mega-mosque will be built in our 'Burg...probably right next to a giant taco/burrito drive-in!!

Hey, what the Hell...I'm not bitter..just truthful..

Hi JoeZ, Ralph,Skip and Sax.
I wish I could find some feast of lights pictures from back in the day but they are hard to get.
I so agree the sights and sounds and aroma and taste of great food
are what I think of too:)
Saint James Carnival must have been
fun too:)

I do not possess a time machine and
so the pictures I take are the
best that I can do. I am sorry if
the Burg has changed. I can say from my own personal reflections that many of the Burg street scenes
look essentially like they did 40 years ago. The glass can be half empty or half full to you and thats fine.
