Barbero's Bakery

61 Conrad Street, The Burg
The corner of Anderson Street and Conrad Street.
Barbero's Bakery of course.
Amazing Donuts and Cakes is what I remember best here
as a Trenton High kid.. and of course the delicious

Hi Mac....My sister Rose worked at Barbero's in the early years and I recall all the goodies they had. I also had a DeCarlo relative living on Conrad Street who was there from Casandrino, Italy. Regards.

I remember as a boy peering through to the back. Bakers in white caps and aprons worked a mound of bread dough as large -- and as white -- as an icebox. With amazing speed, the bakers lopped and tossed off pieces of dough precisely sized and shaped for baking the daily bread in its many forms. I guess the most popular was and still is the Barbero torpedo roll. Back when, you could get a baker's dozen of the best rolls on the planet for about one dollar. Often, the rolls would still be warm from the oven as they went into the bag. Very often, there would be an even dozen left in the bag by the time you walked home.

Barbero's still makes the best rolls and cakes of any bakery around.
