Summer Rain Falls Upon Washington Street, The Burg

Summer Rain Falls Upon Washington Street, The Burg
I remember the days before air conditioning when I was
very young. Rain on a very hot July or August day could
be a welcome thing. Remember how the heat radiated off
the streets and sidewalks of the Burg. Often a summer
storm came with thunder and lightning and wind.
Remember how the window curtains would sway back and
forth as the cool fresh air blew through them?

Hi Mac: That's just about where we lived on Washington St. Is that where Palumbi had his store or is that Mifflin St. At that time, my father had a horse and wagon which he kept on a lot we owned on So. Olden Ave. He grew grapes on the lot and vegtables. When things got tough he had to sell the lot and I was very sad. I think he sold the lot for $100 and it was a good sized lot. Regards.
