The Delaware Water Gap
Burg folks sometimes vacationed in the Pocono Mountains when they
werent down the shore. About 2 Hours of driving up the scenic Delaware
River then this the Bridge at the Delaware Water Gap then
across to Pennsy to Camelback, Mount Pocono, Vacation Valley,
and other places:)

After conquering mighty Belle Mountain we would head off to the "PickYourNose" and god forbid, the piped in yodeling at Big Boulder.
I later became a Pocono instructor. Read my book on making a small fortune as a ski instructor .... first you start with a large fortune.
Who remembers the old German bakery in Glen Gardner .. not to forget Hot Dog Johnnie on the way up?
I remember Hot
Dog Johnnie well, back 35+ years ago. Wonder if it is still there.
Don't forget the Deer Head Inn, where I went many an evening to hear some great jazz away from the city.
They had what must have the world's biggest urinal! ;-)
Keith Jarrett, John Coates, Al Haig, and many others played there. I still have a few friends in the Poconos area that play.
In response to Anonymous about whether Hot Dog Johnnie's is still there...Yes, it is. It is a traditional stop for my husband on his way back from his annual fishing trip to upstate New York each year. I also take my kids there after visiting the Land of Make Believe in Hope, NJ. -K
