The Casino, Anderson Street, The Burg

The Casino, Anderson Street, The Burg
A new picture of the Burg legend I took on my latest
Burg picture walk.. this was taken from near where the
old Theatre that has been torn down used to be.
Italian Hot Dogs from Casino...within walking distance
of our homes. How lucky we all were to be from the
Burg area:)

Hi Mack: It seems so strange to see your pictures of that area and not see my elementary school that I attended for 6 years. That parking lot you see next to the Casino was where my school was and Roma Bank is there now. Also, not to see the Park Theatre across the street is really sad. Most of the Burg is still the same but a few of my early hang outs are gone.

Hi Ralph:)
The Park Theatre building lasted
until the early 2000s when they
finally tore it down. I wish I
had a picture of it. I wish I had
a picture of your ole school too.
Perhaps I will come across them in time:)

I remember as a kid around 1960 watching the old school building brought down by a swinging wrecking ball. The abandoned ruin was replaced by the new Roma Savings & Loan. If not mistaken the new building featured a mural of the Colluseum in Rome, another abandoned ruin.

This brings to mind the old school for the deaf, which everyone called "deefies" long after Columbus Park replaced it. Are there pictures of the building(s) which once stood where the Chris Columbus monument is standing now?
