A Blog about the Chambersburg area of Trenton NJ. The Burg we all loved and miss. If you were from the Burg I hope many of the pictures and lists and comments under them from good folks bring back some nice memories. Villa Park, Franklin Park, South Trenton, and nearby Hamilton also mentioned. Use the search box atop the blog to find schools, churches, streets, stores, bars etc that you remember. Over 4000 posts and 3000 pics. Enjoy:)

Hi Mack: I'll tell you what I always called the big fence at Wetzel Field. That's the one in right field. The distance from home plate was so short, they had to add some height to make it seem like a hard hit ball. It sort of remined me of Fenway Park in Boston.
In this picture is the fence that extends from center field to right field. In this shot, Liberty Street would be behind you.
Hi Ralph & Bill:)
Yes Ralph that fence needed to be
higher due to the rightfield line..
and yes Bill I took this picture
from the Liberty Street side of
Wetzel:)
I remember Wayne Krenchicki hammering one over the "big fence" when he was on Ewing's Legion team playing the Schroths around 1971 or 1972. He later went on to play for the University of Miami (?) and enjoyed a Major League career playeing for the Reds/Expos/Tigers/Orioles 1979-1986.
