A Post From Lou Tasker About Hamilton Florist in 1956

Lou Wrote:

Hi Mike, Sorry for the long delay getting these pictures to you.
I sent you the two pictures I had, along with a business card
and envelope that they used to use.
The pictures are from 1956 and were used do that could be
included in the wordwide service of FTD. FTD (Florists' Telegraph
Delivery) sent flowers around the world. I also have a FTD book
from I believe 1913.
On the front view, the greenhouses were removed in the mid
60's to make a larger showroom and workspace. Also a new home
was built in the rear of the building, which was were the owners
lived at one time.
On the inside view you can see the original terrazo floor that
is still there today, even after the new market moved in.
Unfortunately the art deco style stainless steel door is gone.
The walls were covered over when the place was expanded and a
new drop ceiling was installed. In the cooler in the back right
was moved back and was there until the florist finally closed
in 2006.

Enjoy!

Lloyd "Lou" Tasker

Thank You Lou! This is great:)

Hamilton Florist was at 1203 Hamilton Avenue near the corner of
Hamilton Avenue and South Olden Avenue where Hamilton Twp and
Villa Park meet.

Hi Mack: Hamilton Florist is another of the great business places that thrived. When we built the Hamilton Bowling Lanes in 1955, it was these establishments that made it possible to form bowling leagues that was the main source of revenue for our business. Chambersburg and Hamilton Township in 1955 both shared in our effort to provide the area with more entertainment. Regards

Sal Eppolito was a very mild mannered businessman and great friend of the family. Between Steele's and Hamilton Florists, we had it all covered.

My Dad bought a 28 ft Zobel Sea Fox boat from Sal back in the 70s.

I hope the business is still in family hands and that Sal is still with us.
