308 Hudson Street, The Burg

308 Hudson Street, The Burg
Once upon a time this was Cappaccio Shoe Repair.

UPDATE:

Butch adds:

This was Cappuccio Shoe Repair from the 1950's to 1968. Then his
store moved to 504 Hudson Street in 1968 and until he passed in
1997. He also had a band and people may remember him by Tommy
Cappo. He was my dad.

He was known as Tommy Cappo and his band was called the "Melody Boys. Tony Natriello sang with the band they also cut a record way back then. This information is accurate because my two Uncles played in the Bank with Tom, Tom and Augie Battiste. They played for awhile at at local bar on S. Broad Street. Tom Cappo played the Steel Guitar.

His band had a few names. One origional name was Tommy Cappo and his Imperial Orchestra. Then Tommy Cappo and his Variety Boys.
He played the Steel Guitar and sang.
I remember Augie.

Butch:
Augie played the Drums and Tommy Battiste played the guitar. Do you have a copy of the record they cut? If not let me know, it was redone on a CD.

One more band name, The Royal Hawaiians.

Hi Joe: As well as I knew Tony Natriello, I never thought he was a simger. I worked with Tony at the post office and knew his wife well. Tony's sister Mary, married Sam Corti from North Trenton. I guess when I moved to Mercerville, I sort of lost touch with many things about the Burg. Best Regards.
