Saint Francis Hospital, The Burg
Saint Francis Hospital, The Burg
This is a an old postcard I found of the place on
the internet. It was done quite nicely and from the
little cars I see it must be from the 1940s or 1950s.
In many or most cases in the Burg area if you were not
Born in this Hospital, you were born across the sea:)
Many Burg families like mine also had folks who worked
here at one time. Ralph Lucarella's Brother was a Doctor
Here for years:)

Hi Mack: I have to correct your statement about being
born in St. Francis Hospital. I and most of the early
Chambersburg people were brought into this world by Mid-Wives.
It was very common in those days to be born at home. The only
one in our family born at st. Francis was my brother Chuck.
Today, of course, the safest place is the hospital. Regards.

Hi Ralph:)
Thank You for this. I will add
it to the post:)))
Mike, you and your brothers David, Ed and sisters Sandy and Linda was born there.
Your Mother and I both were in there for many reasons and of course your mother worked there. St Francis is well known to the MacNicoll Family.
