Hamilton Avenue on A Sunny Winter Afternoon, The Burg
Hamilton Avenue on A Sunny Winter Afternoon, The Burg
This was taken from in front of the Roma Bank at
the corner of Hamilton Avenue and Anderson Street.
This view is heading toward Columbus Park and away
from Trenton High.
This picture was taken a few days ago:)

It's me again Mack: This picture brings back a lot of memories. You were standing on the corner where my first school was located. I went there for 6 years and evidently they tore it down to build Roma Savings. It was called Hamilton School and had a bunch of wonderful elderly women as teachers. Most of the kids in that part of the Burg went there and a few turned out to be great doctors. Regards.
Hi Ralph:)
I am glad you like the picture,
the Burg posed well when I took it a few days ago:)
I wish I had a picture of Hamilton
School too.
The white house with the columns is 452, my home. Hard to believe there's no traffic on Hamilton Ave. Must have been the holiday. Thanks Mack.
Mack:
The Main Library on Academy Street in Trenton has pictures of all the houses in Trenton 1930. Maybe you can get a picture from them. I believe the Trentonian Room has a lot of history about Trenton. The room is located on the second floor of the library.
I lived on the block and remember well as a boy -- about 1960 -- when the school was demolished and the Roma Savings building replaced it. They used a wrecking ball swinging from a crane to bring the old brick school down little by little. It was an amazing spectacle for a ten-year-old to witness.
