817 Anderson Street, The Burg

817 Anderson Street, The Burg
Once this was Herman Hammerschmidt's Grocery Store:)

UPDATE: Hammerschmidt adds:

Please note: My grandparents, Julia and Joseph Pecsics began
this grocery store in 1926. Prior to 1926, the building served
as a bakery based on the pastry skills acquired while being
employed by the Union Hotel in Lambertville. The deli was
continued by my parents Julia and Herman Hammerschmidt Sr
until about 1970. Not only did this community staple provide
food items to the people in the neighborhood but also provided
credit and charity to the neighbors when they were down on
their luck. Herman Sr and Julia have passed away and the
building was sold in 2000.
Also, known within the "Burg" is Herman Hammerschmidt Sr family.
Herman Sr's grandmother was a Nickold. She was a well known
mid-wife in the area. It is rumored that she delivered over
1,000 babies.

Herman Hammerschmidt

Thank You So Much for this Herman:)
I lived right around the corner from this on Liberty Street:)

Julia worked there. Small World.
