Pasquale and Rose Lucarella
Pasquale and Rose Lucarella
Thank for for this great picture Ralph (s) :)
I am going to assume this picture was taken in a
Burg area yard. I see what appears to be a shed.
They dont look cold or overdressed so I will also
assume it was taken in spring or summer.
Rose is a cutie:)
Pasquale is wearing a hat and that leads me to ask
my readers: When did folks stop wearing hats?
I remember the movie Diner and the TV Series Happy
Days and they are not wearing hats. Was it the 1950s
kids who first stopped wearing hats?

Thank you Mack, that photo was taken,I believe, when we were living on Washington St. That is a good picture of my father, always very well dressed. When things were going well, he had tailor made suits from the Jahos Brothers Tailors on So. Broad St. His hats were from another well known store near State and Broad. His idea was to buy the best so they would last longer, and in the long run, be the most reasonable. HHe was a very strict father when it came to my sister Rose, like most Italian fathers. As careful as he was about his health, he passed away at a very young age, may God bless him and may he rest in peace. Merry Xmas to everyone in the Burg and Trenton area.
Mack:
Most people will tell you that President Kennedy had a lot to do with men not wearing hats. He did not wear a hat so he started the trend. I remember most of the men in Chambersburg wore felt hats in the winter and on Memorial Day changed to Straw hats.
I just thought of the hats my father bought at the store near State and Broad. They were called Stetson felt hats, it was a very popular stpoe.
