Italian ices were great in here.
Was'nt Landofi's Pastories located in that store at one time. I wonder if SJBil's family remembers a man called Shalup, that's an Italian name meaning sweet, that lived on Mott St. who was famous for his Italian ices.

I think that Landoft's Pastories was located across the street closer to the alley. Italian Peoples Bakery would be across the street of Landoft's on Butler St.
The place I remember so long ago was across the street from Itlian People's Bakery. I guess it was Landolfi's, but that was back in the late 50s to early 60s.
Landolfi's was on other side of the street and a block away. Going to grand opening of their new bar, attached to restaurant in Pawleys Island, tomorrow night. The original neon Landolfi's sign hangs proudly from cathedral ceiling of the bar.

I asked Gary Bencivengo last night and he said that indeed there was an earlier location for bakery but it was in same block as the one they recently closed. Again, it would be his father, George, who would really know and he was not available last night so you may be correct.

There were two Landoft's, two families. One you talked about and the other I believe was a Ralph Landoft across the street from the Italian People Bakery.
Yes, that's correct, the bakery across from Peoples was called "Anthony's Bakery", the baker was Ralph Landolfi, of NO relation to Pasquale Landolfi or his family members that in order took over after his death .....Henry Tallone, George Bencivengo...... finally and presently Gary Bencivengo who ran the bakery for years at 122 Butler Street before moving it to South Carolina.
I also believe Ralph's daughter was the owner of "Little Italy" on Hamilton Ave before being sold a few years ago.
