does anyone remember the name of the bar/tavern on the south end of lamberton street towards the marina that was on pilings that extened over the hill leading towards the river? it had a wood exterior. it think it was painted green(?). it was demolished in the early 70s.
it was on the hill where a bunch of "dads" would go to wash their cars with river water. they would walk down the hill to fetch a pail of river water to wash and rinse the car.
Mac, it was George Luthre Bannister! If you didn't spell it right, he'd send it back. His theme music was Honky Tonk Version 1, by Bill Doggett.
Howabout going over to Morrisville to buy fireworks every Fourth of July? Then shooting them all off!

"ONCE UPON A TIME THERE WAS A TAVERN, WHERE WE USED TO RAISE A GLASS OR TWO, REMEMBER HOW WE LAUGHED AWAY THE HOURS AND DREAMED OF ALL THE GREAT THINGS WE WOULD DO.. THOSE WERE THE DAYS MY FRIEND WE THOUGHT THEY'D NEVER END, WE'D SING AND DANCE FOREVER AND A DAY, WE'D LIVE THE LIFE WE CHOOSE, WE'D FIGHT AND NEVER LOSE, FOR WE WERE YOUNG AND SURE TO HAVE OUR WAY, OH YES THOSE WERE THE DAYS"
AND MACK TO STEAL A LINE FROM BOB HOPE, "THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES"
All you folks are the best:)
