402 Beatty Street, The Burg

402 Beatty Street, The Burg.
Once upon a time this was A&P Supermarket according
to my records:)

SJ Bill adds:
Before we began driving all over creation to purchase things, we walked to the Steve and the A&P. There wasn't much parking in the side lot, and it was only a couple of blocks away.

Everybody took their grocery carts and loaded them up. The "house brands" were pretty decent: Ann Page and Jane Parker products. A&P was known for their coffees: Eight O'Clock, Bokar, and Red Circle.

Meats, smoked meats and bacon, you didn't buy them there. We had dozens of places to get them. Tindik's and Varga's were just a few steps away. And there were butcher stores on nearly every corner. And we had the Chambersburg Poultry market. Our neighborhood had it all, at the time.
