1432 Hamilton Avenue,Hamilton
Once upon a time this was Heath & Wildblood Wholesale Tires
according to my records:)
A Blog about the Chambersburg area of Trenton NJ. The Burg we all loved and miss. If you were from the Burg I hope many of the pictures and lists and comments under them from good folks bring back some nice memories. Villa Park, Franklin Park, South Trenton, and nearby Hamilton also mentioned. Use the search box atop the blog to find schools, churches, streets, stores, bars etc that you remember. Over 4000 posts and 3000 pics. Enjoy:)

Hey Mack, make a left turn from Hamilton Avenue and follow Atlantic Avenue to Greenwood and you will pass my house. Atlantic Avenue was once a part of the fabled "Woodlawn Park." Then as now, it was one of the prettier streets in Hamilton with stately old oak and Sycamore trees. The beautiful photo you took of that building was once (30's and 40's) the little deli known as "Skeets." It was diagonally across from Mom and Pop Hogan's deli on the corner of Hamilton and Newkirk Avenues (a shoe shop today). On the opposite corner of Atlantic and Hamilton was the deli of Ted Banks, (50's) then taken over by Ed Bray.(60's). Today it is a deli operated by folks I have yet to meet.
Hi Tom:)
I love all the stuff on your site
about Woodland Park:)
And Atlantic Avenue is nice:)
Speaking of Parks:
I found a listing for a
VOSSLER GROVE on 235 Watson Avenue
near the street you grew up on.
Does that name ring a bell?
Sure does, Mack. It was a summer picnic area for many local organizations. Not as popular as Plaag's Grove, but still had a respectable number of attendees. There were unfounded (And Untrue) rumors that Vossler's was a haven for the German American pro Hitler Bund.
Tom
That building is now Mercer Automotive. A great facility owned and operated by two brothers who do quality work at an affordable price. They do all repairs but specialize in BMW repair. One brother actually moved from NJ to the burg and lives there presently.
I should have said North Jersey.
