Mack, Aren't you a block away from Swan. That looks to be the intersection of Whittaker and Roebling. If you look over to the left of the photo, the second building in from the corner was a tomato pie restaurant. Just a narrow building, like a house. They made a great pie, but I can't remember the name. Anybody know?
By the way, just to the right of the Ice House, stood Brown's Trucking. On a warm summer night, the building burned down to the ground. There were a number of trucks parked inside the building and they started exploding one by one. It was one of the most spectacular fires in Trenton. I was already asleep when the fire started. The city was filled with fire truck sirens and the sky was a bright orange glow. I dressed quickly and started running from Villa Park toward Chambers St. not knowing where the fire originated. I remember my mother screaming at me not to go, as I ran out the front door. I kept running past Chambers, up Roebling. Still more sirens and a brighter glow in the sky. I finally reached Chestnut and there were the fire engines. My aunt Tess lived on Whittaker, just off Swan and managed to get through to her yard. An unbelievable sight, as every few minutes another truck blew up. There were hundreds of people watching. I'll never forget the sounds and sight of that night.
