Mack, This was Peter's Auto Repair. I can't remember Mr. Peters first name, because we all called him Pete. His son, Bill (known as Bib) worked with him. They did not use a lift to work underneath cars, but jacked them up, sometimes working on the concrete floor. There was no heat as we know it. They used a couple of huge gas fired hot air heaters that stood on the floor. They were always great with me. I kept my 1941 Chrysler Highlander in the building for over a year, working on it when I could. Pete helped me when I had a problem. I later sold him the car.
They serviced all of the Divco milk trucks belonging to the Villa Park Dairy. They were a Divco dealer for a while. They were also an authorized Studebaker dealer, before World War II. I think for just a short time.
Pete owned an original 1954 Chevrolet Corvette that was in beautiful condition. I had him bring the car to Patterson Chevrolet in Hamilton Square and display his car in a place of honor, inside the showroom. We had an antique car show that day, and dozens of people came inside to talk to him about his car. He was happy as a lark. They were both gentlemen and honest repair men, and I was fond of them.
