Washington School, The Burg.
A front view:)
A Blog about the Chambersburg area of Trenton NJ. The Burg we all loved and miss. If you were from the Burg I hope many of the pictures and lists and comments under them from good folks bring back some nice memories. Villa Park, Franklin Park, South Trenton, and nearby Hamilton also mentioned. Use the search box atop the blog to find schools, churches, streets, stores, bars etc that you remember. Over 4000 posts and 3000 pics. Enjoy:)

Mack, I'll have to tell my sons to check out the pic. They transferred from Catholic school to Washington and really liked it.
Hi Joe:)
I would love to hear
stuff about Washington School:)
The new Washington School, pictured here, was built around the mid 1930's. I believe I started in the 4 grade at that school in 1938. It replaced the original school located , which is now a park, between Roebling, Emory and Whitaker Avenues.
Hey Mack, I attended Washington School from 1949. We rarely used the front entrance, only the side entrance which is shown in your other pic of this school. The glass windows visible to the left of the side entrance in that picture was the kindergarten classroom in my day and of course we had no air conditioning.
Some of the grades where grouped together in the same class room.
