Once Tammaro's Produce, Roebling Avenue near Chambers
Street, The Burg.
The garage door was always open and the fruit and vegetables
were in boxes and crates with just enough room for folks
to walk past it on the sidewalk back in the day. Remember?
A Blog about the Chambersburg area of Trenton NJ. The Burg we all loved and miss. If you were from the Burg I hope many of the pictures and lists and comments under them from good folks bring back some nice memories. Villa Park, Franklin Park, South Trenton, and nearby Hamilton also mentioned. Use the search box atop the blog to find schools, churches, streets, stores, bars etc that you remember. Over 4000 posts and 3000 pics. Enjoy:)

Hey Mack, I thought this was Pagnani's market. If so they where also co-owners of The Paradise Swimming Club on Rt 1, Princeton next to the BMW dealer with my grandfather Tony (Casino Rest)Goes.

Hi Vince:)
I thought this was Tammaro's
in my Burg day 70s80s..
maybe it wasnt.
You are certainly correct Pagnani's were here
but a mystery remains:
In 1957 :
919-921 Roebling Avenue.
PAGNANI & SONS Grocery
&
Armand Bochchini Meats.
These addresses are confusing me.
Acme was 837 Roebling Avenue.
The 1957 Pagnani's Store address
is 919-921 which would put it on the same side of the street.
But this produce stand was on the other side of the street.
???
Hey Mack, It is confusing I lived at 838 Roebling Ave. Pagnani's was on the left side of street for sure walking towards Chambers St. which con flicks with your addresses. I also remember some type of social club directly across from Pagnani's. If my memory serves me correctly Pagnani's was located there from the late 40's to early 70's. Not positive about the latter date, I moved from the Burg in 1963 to Hamilton Twsp. Perhaps they where bought out by the Tammaro's in the early 70's which would make you correct. I'll check back with you on this one.
