931 Chambers Street, The Burg

931 Chambers Street, The Burg.
Once upon a time this was Bartolini's Bar & Liquor Store.
They had Tomato pies as Stephen points out:)

Back in the 50s & 60s, my dad would take us down to Island Beach State Park for the day and on the return trip we frequently would stop at Bartolini's where he would get us a table in the back and order a half dozen or so tomato pies. With there being 10 or so of us kids, DeLorenzo's or Papa's would be out of the question but Bartolini's seemed able to handle us.

One of the last "stand up" bars.

I remember going to Bartolini's in the summertime. The dining room was like a refridgerator! With the summer heat it was great!

When I was little, the bar had a sign "for men only", no women in the bar, only in the dining area. Dad would go in for a beer with the buddies and put me in a chair at the bar entrance, but in the dining room, so he could keep an eye on me. Booorrring.

See that Stephen, you mentioned tomato pie and who posts Barb P. Just teasing Barb. That was a good place for a quick drink, standing room only.
