Ralph Cray had a son named Barry, who was a bit older than me. BArry had a 50 - 52 Ford, light primer gray, flathead V-8. glass packs, skirts, dropped in the rear and LOUD.

Even though I was still going to Harrison School, just down the street, I loved that car.

I believe he named it "Squaw".

You neglected plasterers. Dunco was great! Dragged his mud pan behind him -- never owned a car. Kept business close to home.

Then came the painters and paper hangers. ;-)

We used to take that Ford and my 50 2-door coupe to Langhorne Dragstrip every Sunday afternoon..my coupe was stock and immaculate..Barry's was "nasty"!!

We also spent some time playing music together with a few other friends..Barry, like Joe Klesken, played trumpet....I can still picture him in his baggy pants..he was a good friend!

I see a Barry Cray involved in local racing died 10-26-2008.
He has a son Todd Cray involved
in racing according to the site.

I see a Langhorne Speedway.
is that the same as the dragstrip?

Mack,

Thanks! You do your homework.
Barry was a Rebel before they became popular. I guess I knew him after Harrison as well. On my way home from Junior Four, you could hear him going down the street -- never slow.

The Cray home was set back a bit from Genessee St. Barry never minded our walking into the driveway to check out the car. Real hands on.

Yes Mack....the dragstrip was at the speedway....right off of Rt 1 in Langhorne...behind the then-gigantic Langhorne Motors. Sad to hear about Barry Cray..

When I saw the link I first thought I could hook up Barry Cray with the site and all of you folks who knew him. But then I read that
he had passed away. Sorry about the loss of your ole Friend folks:(

I believe that Martin Angebrandt did some wall papering of our home on one occasion.

Martin's wife was named Betty. They were members of the Aurora Club, and I believe they were frequent bowlers over at Heil's.
