John McCormack, Irish Singer

If you have Irish folks in your family there is a
good chance you heard John McCormack singing back
in the day. A great voice from the past:)
I think Ronan Tynan singing today is magnificent:)
There was once a German and Irish Burg before our Burg
days:)

Don't know this name. But your comment about the ethnicity of the Burg is interesting. I wandered into Immaculate Conception Church recently on a sentimental tour, after decades away from the Burg. I noticed a window featuring two saints. One was St Patrick, which was easy to identify. The other was harder. I looked up the symbols and discovered it is St Boniface. Patrons of Ireland and Germany. Why are these two saints there? I was curious. In1888, when the church went up, it was a German and Irish parish primarily. The large Italian influx came soon after. St Joachim's was created to minister to the new arrivals. So the Burg was not always Italian, as I used to think, and it is not Italian now. They have Spanish language Mass at Immaculate now. So you can see how neighborhoods like the Burg change. They are always changing. We just don't notice it.

Yes Indeed:)
I learned about the old Burg
later on too and how it was
once German and Irish.
