Saxman and Tom Pass, was it this place that featured jazz gigs back in the 70s?

Was Frank any relation to Joe "Reno" Lanzi?

SJBILL...yes it was. Sunday afternoons where popular...and of course Fri and Sat nights during the 60's it was the place to be.
Barbara Trent Trio played there on a regular basis..as well as Jazzman Richie Cole. Don't know about the relationship ???

There is a post by
John Ferrera to Richie Cole on
myspace mentioning Lanzi's

Yes, that was THE jazz spot. Ange Lanzi ran the joint. Barbara Trent is the wife, long time separated, of the guitar I have worked with for last 25 years. Bob Smith Trio is alive and well and will be doing the Joe's Mill Hill Reunion on May 16.

On the subject of Joe "Reno" Lanzi, he was a boxer from Trenton. He began his fighting career in the 1920s! A really nice guy he was.

Saxman and Tom Pass probably knew him. He was the guy that took care of the locker room at THS. I think he retired in '63 or '64.

Joe was the father of a woman that lived next door to me in Lawrence.

SJBill,

Thanks for jogging my memory. I remember Reno now and do recall that he was a real gentleman.
