Back in the 50s & 60s the early edition of tomorrow's Philadelphia Inquirer would be delivered here around 8:00 PM the previous night. My dad was a real news hound and typically went through ten different newspaper a day. We kids took turns having to be at the Hamilton Sweet Shop at 8:00 pm to buy the early edition for him.
Stephen, my dad used to drive to Warren St to the news stand next to the Texas Weiner place to get the paper at midnight! Back then the paper was the internet, your link to news around the world. It's funny..people took the time to be more informed then, even tho there's more info available now. Maybe it's because they could READ then, now they just look at the pictures.
Trenton train station was the place for early morning papers..around 11:00pm my dad would drive there and have me hop out of the car to get the papers.
Probably need my permit to carry these days!
