2630 South Broad Street, Hamilton

2630 South Broad Street, Hamilton
Once upon a time this was the Hamilton Theatre.
It opened in 1947 and seated 800 and movies were
40 cents:) It is now a Church:)
UPDATE: Tom Glover points out this Theatre opened
on Christmas Day 1946:)

Same architecture as old Brunswick Theater on Brunswick circle.

Tom: You are right exactly like the old Brunswick Theater. I grew up on Brunswick Ave. Right across the street was a good tomato pie place, believe the last name was Cassianni's.

There was indeed a good tomato pie place there but I can not confirm the name. The Brunswick Theater featured many of the European films before it closed.

Both were great movie houses. I remember the Euro "Art Films" at the RKO Brunswick: Repulsion, La Dole Vita, and a few others.

The best places for a kid were the RKO Broad and RKO Capitol. Was it 25 cents for a Saturday double feature with cartoons at the Broad, and 50 cents at the Capitol?

I earned my Masters degree in "B-Horror" movies at both places. It was great.

It was at the Broad where I could eat so much candy I could and did get sick. ;-)

The first movie I ever saw at RKO Hamilton was "Underwater" with Richard Egan and Jane Russell. Stuck with me so much, I got into SCUBA as soon as I was old enough. Last movie I saw at RKO Brunswick was "Exorcist". Gotta say, it scared the hell out of me and I was an adult. SJBill...got my degree along with you at the RKO Broad, they just don't make 'em like that anymore. Remakes...trash.
