1201 Chestnut Avenue, The Burg.
This is at the corner of Chestnut Avenue and
South Clinton Avenue. I dont remember what this
was in my Burg day but remember passing by it
often:)

I think the place on the corner was Bijou Florists.

This was across the street from Lavinthal Shoes and kitty-corner to "The Bije" Pool Hall.

The little store to its left was (I think) Whittikund Jewelers.

Across the street from the florist and from the Bijou theater was a Rexall pharmacy. It had a really nice soda fountain where you could get a great Cherry Coke, or root beer float, fresh made

SJBill...Mr. Whittikind's daughter/son worked at the A&P on Beatty St. Thought he was the son, found out later she was the daughter. Used to stop at the Rexall on my way home from Immaculate to have a vanilla coke. Used my "pagan baby" money, Joe Z.

It's not nice to spend the Pagan Babie's money on Vanilla cokes, that's why you have to drive to Trenton for Tomato pies and Lingerie.

Joe Z...I'm goin' to ask Ricky DeLorenzo to put up a "pagan baby' donation jar at the register, so when I go in I can kill 2 birds with 1 tomato pie...and get rid of this Catholic guilt.
