South Clinton Avenue & Anderson Street, The Burg

South Clinton Avenue and Anderson Street, The Burg.
Just a small office building frequently passed by
on foot or by car in old Burg days :)

Mack: If I remember right this was a dentist's office at one time. I believe his name was Dr. Vine. I had to have all my baby teeth pulled for some reason and this guy gassed you up before pulling, never felt a thing except sick as a dog afterwards for a few hours.

Joe Z...Dr Vine was a little heavy with the gas, I didn't even want it and he gave it to me anyway. I too was sick as a dog for a day after. I think he was so rough he didn't want us to see what he was really doing...or maybe he didn't like kids.

Barb: I don't remember much of the gas doctor. My mother took me there to have those teeth pulled. I originally went to a dentist on Brunswick Ave. where we lived. All the kids called him Dr. Pain, he was short on giving you the proper dose of novacaine. He was from Poland. That's what I got for living in a Polish neighborhood. I have to be proud being Polish.

Joe Z...that's why all the good Butchers Shops were Polish. Lots of extra Dentists.

Barb: My son was up there a few years ago, a new generation of Polish have taken over. He said Willets on Brunswick and Olden is now a Polish store and deli. There was a lot of Polish run businesses, but Top Road Tavern still lives. I checked Google mapping still looks good and about the same as I remember. Not too many dentists left though.

Always see pretty Polish girls
when driving in that North Trenton
neighborhood.

Mack: Keep those thoughts, if Barb see's that post, she'll have you paying money to those Pagan Babies again.

Somehow, when Mack says it, it seems almost...wholesome. Seriously, I go to the Polish Deli quite often, Easter especially. Ellis, Cherry and Pine is Polish again, most are young girls from Poland who work for cleaning agencies. Nice that the neighborhood is starting to come back.

Glad to see Real Polish food available again. When I was little there was a bunch on little mom and pop Polish stores. The only Kielbasa they sell in Florida is Smithfield. Oh to see those things hanging on the rack!

Joe Z...they have a real Polish deli, butcher shop and bakery in the building. They used to have a Polish restaurant attached to it on the Brunswick side, but it's now closed. Too bad, the food was very good.
